Except that SMS doesn't come close to being the cheapest way to communicate by SMS, IM is. Thankfully some phones have software that is designed generically enough to allow applications such as IM clients to make use of their T9 implementation.

And with SMS being the cheapest way to communicate via cellphone
not even close. For me email is cheaper. IM's (Gtalk and Yahoo messenger) are also cheaper. PIN messages on my blackberry are free and I'm pretty sure MMS are the same price as sms during peak and you can send much longer messages.

Then again T9 is convenient if you're stuck with a numerical keypad.

Bleh MXit the cheapest.. (Or like Flint said - any mobil IM application that uses GPRS/3G etc)

Is there any cellphone that understands sign languange? I want to send a finger to Telscum.
