Does anyone know if Telkom support guys are on this forum at all?

I just managed to get DSL installed in my place so thought I would give my mother my Telkom LTE month to month 20GB sim, I know thats too much data for her so just went to Telkom to downgrade the package to 10GB only to be told I will be charged a R400 penalty??

So as I am on a month to month I reckon I now need to cancel and then open a new one with 10GB which surely will give them more overhead to deal with???

Where is the sense in this??

There is a telkom rep here: TelkomZA

Edit: Are you sure it is a month to month?
As with most contracts even cellphone you need to give them a months notice before the account can be closed.
The R400 penalty can be for wanting it immediately and not giving the aforementioned notice

Yep I am totally sure its month to month sim only deal, the rep at the store didnt even check my account before telling me the charge to which I asked her if she was sure cause I am on a month to month. I just spoke to Telkom on the phone and was told that is the charge until I had to tell her 10 times I am on month to month to which I got the aaaaaaawwwwww ok, and was passed to the sales department and that dude just told me he cant help with migration  Im thinking I cant actually deal with this, I will just cancel and get mobile data through Afrihost.

Hi, the store has advised correctly, month-to-month is a contract just like any other contract, migration rules are the same. You are also correct, you will need to give a month notice to have the contract cancelled and take out a new contract with less threshold.

Feel free to contcat us for further assistance.

Kind regards
