Hi all.
So took my car in for a service this morning to Hyundai and received a call an hour ago stating that my pair of front tyres needs to be replaced as they've been worn to the indicator lines (interestingly I performed my own inspection a few days ago without noticing this). These were new tyres fitted (Khumo) when I bought the car in March and have done 5000km since then so not sure if that wear rate is normal (I consider myself a moderate driver, no burnouts in my i20
)
Regardless I have chosen not to have Hyundai do it due to the excessive price (quoted R2500 for 2 Khumos) as Tyremart has quoted me on 2 Goodyears for 1320 in total including fitment and alignment.
My question is which tyre brand is a safe bet considering Cape Town weather condition and more often less than acceptable roads? Also with regards to comfort, economy and wear?
So far I've had a quote on Goodyears, Firestones (R1600 excluding alignment) and Dunlops (R1560 excluding alignment).
All thoughts, advice and experience appreciated!
