Tyre burst

this, unless you have runflats, and then carry on doing your BMW thing.
Sucky thing about run-flats, apart from the expense is they'll also need replacing afterwards if you keep driving with them.

so all those BMW's need to have those Fancy tires replaced?
I thought they last forever with the fact they cost so much.
Run-flats are great for escaping the inconvenience of a puncture and mitigating blow-outs, but they're just as susceptible to punctures and damage.

After a puncture, you're actually NOT supposed to drive on it if you want to still keep using it. If you do keep driving on it, then they recommend replacement, not just a puncture repair. Eventually the steel reinforcing becomes compromised.

They're great for safety, but not economical or as durable (repair wise) as normal tyres.

so if they cheap out and give you run flats, you still change them,
just cant go to any backyard mechanic to fix it for you.

That's exactly what I did. I have an oldish BMW and go to Ross Duncan for anything I need. I've replaced all of mine with regular tyres. Quieter ride and slightly more economical.

Initially I was a noob and thought if I just repair it, it'll keep going. Nope. Started leaking around the rim because the reinforcing failed. Expensive Pirelli run-flat rendered unusable after just 1 puncture.

so its a marketing gimmick? you still change tires, even run flats,
so then whats the point? stick to normal tires and design a spare wheel well to house 1 tire .

typical BMW thinking, lets advertise our cars with run flats and save space and money designing a spare tire well,
tire goes, you STILL replace the tire, only with a MUCH more expensive one.

so how do you know if you need to add oil, BMW's solution is no Dipstick just a sensor and a display to tell you when to add oil,
brilliant when its under motorplan, when it isn't and the sensor goes bang, what then? how will you know?
when you see smoke and flames, okay time to add oil????

and people wonder why I dislike BMW so much, idiotic engineering.
