tyre prices :(

i recently got a twt express card and wanted to put 4 new tyres on my car,
i got quoted R3200 for 4 brand new tyres 13inch !!! :mad: but thats not all ! Becuase im using the express card (at 30% interest !) they still charge 12% more for using their own card ! so in other words it would cost me less to put mags on my car than it is to put tyres !
 
What brand of tyres? Cause the brand influences the price..... if you are on a very tight budget and want some decnt tyres why not get Dunlop tyres?? i used to get those when i had my corsa lite
 
My 13" Pirellis cost me R375 each in Jan. So thats like R1500 for all 4 plus a hundred and whatever for the other stuff (wheel alignment and such).
 
it was nankang, apparantly that was their cheapest brand for the 13#....the 14inch works out cheaper....
 
a bit low on cash this month and need to travel down to natal, i thought the express card was my best option but would rather wait until i have cash next month i guess!

They are WAAY cheaper than that, even if you take the most awesome tyres and wheel alignment/balance/etc. is free.

Well I think Malas isn't too bad in terms of price, my friend paid +-R700 for 2x13" continental 155/80 which included the wheel alignment, valves and balancing just 1 week ago.

So around that price is what you should be paying, yellow pages is your friend, call and get quotes, 5 should suffice ;)
 
yip gonna look around and take the cash route ....next month though :) cos im a broke a$$ at the moment ....
 
Haha! You think that's rough? I have one back tire that lasts 10 000km and costs R3500. :D

A friend recently replaced a rear tyre on his Jag XKR after hitting a nail. R8 000. ;)
 
im still very pissed at TWT prices though ! their express card is a joke and i wont ever be using it ! 30% interest and they still have the nerve to charge another 12% of the total cost!
 
I fitted Continental 205/55/16 tyres last month, cost me R800 per tyre = R3200 for 4.

You are definately getting ripped off.
 
Tyres are some of the things that we take for granted when buying a car. You'll find a nice second hand car with 18" mags and like it - forgetting it's R3k per tyre.
 
How can they legally charge your 12% more just cause you are using a card?

good point...i dont know...the original quote came to 1600 around then he saw my card (express credit) and said oh i forgot to add on the 12% for the card .... so thats 12% off the total added on...and then they still charge 30% interest pa
