So firstly tyres are obviously not cheap, especially if you want something decent.

Where can one get tyres for good prices in Cape Town and surrounds? Reputable brands, not fong kongs.

Could be wrong, but i have heard they tend to import tires, not always suited for our conditions. Even though its known brands
They do some Korea brands which used last time, uk reviews was good so I went it. I am not race driver, so for daily driving it was fine.

I would suggest that you go to Errol's Tyres website.
Look up the size and brand that you want and take their price as a guide.

Furthermore, enquire about fitting, balancing and nitrogen charges that are added on afterwards.
The same scheme as on-the-road charges when buying a car.

I also researched tires, as mine is tricky to find, Errols had the best deal. except it had to be brought in.
Ended up using TWT, a little more, but convenient and did everything

205/55 R16
So here is a comparison between Errol's and TWT for the size above.
ContiPremiumContact2:
Errol's - R1114 each
TWT - R1095 each
Goodhope's cheapest Conti according to its ad - R899

Pirelli P7:
Errol's - R1153 each
TWT - R1117.50 each

ContiPremiumContact5:
Errol's - R1114 each
TWT - R1095 each

Michelin Primacy 3:
Errol's - R1390 each (91V)
TWT - R1368.50 each (91W)

To me it seems TWT is cheaper than Errol's?

Goodhope Tyres is normally a good bet, but I've found Hi-Q in Brackenfell to be the best overall tyre service provider and worth paying for.

I suggested that Errol's only be used as a guide.
Me, I fitted tyres at Palm Tyres and also paid less.
Errol's Tyres is merely a guide.

But my caveat emptor was the additional charges that some tyre fitment centres introduce when you get to pay the bill!

Even better prices than Palm Tyres?

Never used them, so can’t comment.

But an individual tyre price doesn’t always tell the whole story.

With dodgy scams like allegedly buckled rims and just bad workmanship not greasing bolts and over torqueing etc I’ve just found HiQ Brackenfell to be very reliable and well priced over all when everything extra is included.

So I found that HiQ Brackenfell had the best prices compared to Goodhope Tyres, Tyres and More, TWT, Best Drive Brackenfell and Tyre Choice. My preferred tyre choices were Pirelli Cinturato P7, Conti SportContact 2 or PremiumContact 2 or 5, Goodyear Effecient Grip, etc.

I ended up going for Cooper Zeon CS8 at Tyre Choice though, which seemed to have decent ratings on the uk tyre rating site. Cooper is obviously better known for its offroad tyres. They offered a 45000km warranty and 2 year protection plan at no additional cost. Tyres were R940 each, alignment R225. I think I took a bit of a risk but let's see.

Good to know my experiences haven't been unfounded.

One place I'll never ever use in my life again is Supaquick....dodgiest bunch of scammers I've ever encountered.

So much so I'm convinced they "planted" a puncture on my car due to me catching onto their scam.

Recently replaced 4 tyres on Ze Mercedes @ 2.5k each...

I am still eating the moss from my garden..
