I am looking for 15" tyres for my RunX. Been to Malas, Tiger Wheel and the cheapest "good" brand was R600 per tyre. Fair price? Or is there another place I can get a much cheaper, but good quality tyres?

I went to Limpopo and I was driving on the gravel roads and them 2 tyres (Good Year) got damaged somewhat.

Ummm... Try AutoWiel in Centurion.

They had pretty decent prices.

I tried the Hatfield one, and they were a little cheaper than TWT. I'll pass by them later today. I had some quotes from them few weeks ago.

They were by far the best I tried when I was up in that part of the world... decent prices, and best service.

You can try and get away with R500 a tire. I don't know if you will get anything cheaper than that. If you did I'd be wary of the quality.
I payed R500 for mine last year November.

:)
Where, what brand?

Had mine replaced at Tyre Net in Goodwood. Got some Falken FK452's. Pretty damn decent at R1000/pop. If your tires are a standard size, I'd also recommend Minty's. They stock a decent range at great prices.

last year november is in nov 2008 or nov 2007?

Nov 2008, 195/50R15 Sava = Goodyear. They are pretty decent tires. Three other people recommend them.
I can't remember the name of the place but it is in the Menlyn area where all the Car places like Tiger Wheels etc. are.

I always go to Menlyn Tyre and Exhaust, next to the Total garage in Garsfontein road. I love their Pirellis. Going there tomorrow in fact...

Oh no...don't start with the 'R600 a tyre is cheap compared to what I paid' thread. :( This could get nasty

I do agree with buying the beter tyres... remember, it's the only contact with the road especially in the wet.

Last year I got some prices for my car's tyres, just out of interest. Mine is 205/16/55. The better brands, like michellen, was R200 more per tyre than Goodyear and some other general brands. Now I wonder if you could compare these brands, like price you pay per km you get out of it, what brand would be better? I dont mind paying more for better, but in my case, will I get R200 more miles out of the more expensive tyres, or do you only pay for the brand name?
ps, I am a michellen fan, but R1200/tyre is a lot.
