TyTNII and Netgear Router

I’ve been using my Netgear DG834Gv3 router (Firmware v4.01.28) now for more than a year. Recently I enabled the Wi-Fi with WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK security enabled. The connection on my laptops is super. Last week my TyTNII (HTC Kaiser) phone arrived and I tried to establish a Wi-Fi link to the router with my TyTNII, but as soon as I try to connect, the connection to my laptop is interrupted, and then for a period of time the laptop can connect to the router for a second and then there is no signal and the laptop disconnect. I would appreciate if somebody can help me to get my TyTNII connected

First step is to remove all security (WEP/WAP) Can both connect?
Also check that the router is not filtering on MAC Addresses...

I will remove the security and see if I can Connect. I do use MAC filtering. Do I only have to remove it for the test, because I would like to have the highest level of security available on my network.

Yes, remove all security measures for the test.

You can always replace them later.

It is needed to find out where exactly the problem is.

Preferred method of troubleshooting - start with a basic, working network and build it up from there.

I do use MAC filtering.

I presume your Tytn IIs MAC Address is listed as allowed?

KISS (Keep It Simple STUPID!)worked. Changed it to WPA-PSK and everyone is happy.

BTW how can I be certain that my phone is using the Wi-Fi connection to connect, and not sneaking in a 3G connection behind my back? My phone does show that the Wi-Fi is connected. Is that sufficient?

The TyTN II should have an option to operate without the sim card. (not so sure).

Remove the SIM and see if you can still connect.

RTFM to see if they make any mention of that... it's a scary thought, and you are right to be sure it doesn't use your 3G sneakily...
