Uber Movement releasing valuable data to cities

Uber is launching a new service called Uber Movement, which provides ride-sharing data to cities and can be used to improve traffic flow.

I thought that they were already doing this.

They can start in JHB by figuring out how they can better manage their own Uber-Taxi-Ranks, its becoming a problem in some areas, as now Zebra Cabs, Taxify have joined the game. In our area they park everywhere, littering etc.

Hopefully the governing organizations will use this info for better infrastructure planning

Pretty cool. Cities should get as much info from services such as Uber, Google Nav and Waze. See where and how people ACTUALLY drive, not how and where they think people should drive and then plan and act on that actual info.
