Just compared estimates and it is a bit cheaper than Uber.
The app is almost identical to the uber one.

All promo codes benefits someone or an entity, it's a marketing strategy. No such thing as 'proper'. I could not find more than R100 off, otherwise I would have shared regardless if its my code or not. I just recently found out about taxify in Cape Town by googling an alternative to Uber. They are currently not high on marketing like Uber because they are relatively new and still growing. I am sure I am not the only one who didn't know about taxify.

Very nice, I always wondered why they didn't have these. I'll probably get one just for the discount.

Edit: Now that I think about it, how does this work? What happens if your trip cost extends beyond the value of the voucher?
