Uber's problems at the Gautrain

Weird how the article doesn't actually touch on the problem - government doing nothing about the criminal behaviour of the taxis.

The continued inability and unwillingness of the Gautrain management to take serious measures to secure their stations beyond lip service and toothless security guards has cost them a lot of my business. Having been hauled out of an Uber by thugs while Gautrain security just watched, saying they didn’t want to escalate things, I now just Uber directly from the airport. Problem solved.

In a few months, we might hear Gautrain wondering why passenger numbers are down, and why there is a constant convoy of Ubers from the airport.
Muppets!

+1

I used to take the Gautrain to the airport and now just Uber directly.

I do the same thing. It works out like R20 more expensive - money well spent. It is a lot faster too. I mean, the problem with the Gautrain is that you have to wait for it, often 20 minutes.

Mine cost about R150 more expensive. But company pays, and have luggage so I prefer it

Unless it's rush hour - then the Gautrain is definitely faster if you have to get through Gillooly's. But still it's better than having to deal with thugs and complacent security at the other end.

A feud is a two way thing, Jan. I don't think Uber drivers have any problem with taxi drivers except that taxi drivers keep fccking with them. Saying Uber is feuding with taxi drivers implies that they are doing something except trying to make a living, or that they could do something to stop the unpleasantness other than going out of business.

If someone keeps hitting me and I do nothing back, that's not a fight. To say it is is to apportion blame where none is due.

I honestly think leading with that sentence is a tad irresponsible.

I wish society at large would all rock up in the masses and tell these metered taxis to get lost or face the wrath of the mob - sick of us all being so timid and scared of these thugs - you stop a bully by punching him in the face
