Yea, but you also didn't have to do optional side quests in SM2 to help ze gays, but alas.

In fact plenty of games probably have the option not to engage with that sort of stuff (DA:V comes to mind) but they're not spared in the discourse like BG3, which I think was the original point

I see that X and Elon Musk is now going on against Avowed because it uses those pronouns, not sure what you call it.

That's taking it too far in my opinion. Like the new Dragon Age put me off because of the whole trans thing in a fantasy game with a character that looked so annoying that it put me off playing the game. But just having pronouns doesn't bother me at all.

I do think that Hansen is a bit fickle. His skin isn't thick. Just say the most baseless thing about Micosoft's or Obsidian's employment program or whatever, and he is punctured. Then he reacts to it without thought. People today, online, will attack your character, it is a common phenomenon. Not that the other end is receiving it any better, but it is the internet. Hansen's issue is making it personal; he is flawed in that way. People are digging up old twars or xwars, whatever, and bending it to their will in the current. The best he should do is to ignore it. He posts something on Bluesky it will be shared on other platforms, and people don't see context, and where it started, people are only interested in seeing their own end to it.

My advice for the whole Avowed thing is to wait until it releases. Too many games get cancelled prematurely. Avowed isn't a Concord case, neither is it in the shoes of Dragon Age. It is paving its own way.

People are also already attacking Pillars of Eternity. I guess its entire universe is woke now. I am going to make my point again: if Baldur's Gate III didn't take the risks it did, it wouldn't have been a success. As much as people want an already successful title cancelled.

To be honest, the only way to tore down GTA6 will be to attack Steam, and that is in the process of happening.

The self-proclaimed heroes of tomorrow are the people who are now killing video games.

I don't think anybody really know what they're saying when they throw around the "woke" word anymore, it's so loaded at this point it's lost all meaning.

All that "woke" should mean is "awake", "aware", "cognisant" - all good qualities imo. It means for something to be aware that different kinds of people exist and to try and cater for everyone, including minorities.

It's all very good when it's just that, but obviously people from the far ends of the spectrum have to always politicise things to the extreme.

So please bring on more "woke" games, I'll enjoy them if they're good games and I'll enjoy watching the weirdos who get riled up about diversity being added to things which will take nothing away from their experience but will have an amazingly positive impact on a small group of others.

Hansen. He behaved like a 5 year old. Two days ago nobody knew his name and today he is in the news for the all the wrong reasons.

He could have said they cater to a broad audience and things would have ended there but no this brainless idiot had to insult Elon Musk who has 200m followers seeing his every tweet.

And if that wasn't bad enough already he openly admitted to agendas and illegal hiring practices in his follow-up insults which brought not only the product shipping in 3 months but also his employer under scrutiny.

This gullible man-child caused quite a shitstorm. He is a clown and should be fired with immediate effect.
