I download and installed the iso for Ubuntu 8.10 2 weeks ago using the Wubi installer, had a few issues with the installation initially, downloaded JKDefrag and ran it and "bam" Ubuntu 8.10 Installed.
Ubuntu 8.10 is looks great, wasn't able to install my Neotel Lite Device though, so thought about downloading and installing the new Intrepid Ibex (Xubuntu), finally got the Xubuntu iso but wasn't able to install, so same as last time JKDefragged, still wouldn't install, even uninstalled Ubuntu 8.10 and nope still no successful install on with Xubuntu. (In the installation process it hangs on 100% when it's completing the setting up of Partitions) I even used 15 Gigs space for the Xubuntu installation and still no successful installation.
I even thought that maybe the Xubuntu iso was corrupt so downloaded it a second time still with the same result, no successfull installation.
I have basically gone through all the guidelines on ubuntuforums.org, asked for support on freenode IRC server and a few others trying to solve the problem with no success.
My main reason for trying to install Xubuntu is hopefully to get my Neotel Lite Device setup.
I don't think I have a system conflict but I have:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6420 @ 2.80GHz (x86) at 2900MHz
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB res: 1680x1050 32bit ram: 2046.5MB
NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller Packet Scheduler Miniport -100MB/s
I have 2 HDD's: 1 partitioned 100GB and another 465GB and have tried on all drives.
Would downloading the Dapper iso be worthy try ? or are there any other ideas or tips to try please?
