I haven't had any issues with what you've mentioned above.

Here's a pic of the display applet (which should be an issue for you ). It's rather dof that you cannot enlarge the window where all the important info lives. I really cannot see the point of having 2/3 of the screen taken up by a block saying default and the screen size. You want to be able to get to the buttons to change things.

I had that with Gutsy a couple of times (yes, in KDE), but never again after that.
