Ubuntu interface changes taking hold

Um... well folks, worry not. Here is a screenshot I just took... if you like the way the W7 task bar looks... well... why are you not running Linux? You can make it look as simple as W7 easily... here is a screenshot of my windows 7 theme :)

Im running off a laptop with another screen attached, hence the two desktops that are different sizes :D

Not to start a flame war, but the Windows 7 Taskbar is so much more than just a new look. Does this W7 taskbar of yours have jump items? Can it pin applications to the taskbar? Can other application integrate with this taskbar i.e. when doing long jobs the taskbar would show a progress indicator on the applications icon?

And more. Cant compare w7 to ubuntu easily. Ubuntu has compiz, I can make my desktop do anything I want to:

altho probably not your intention, the features showcased are available in any mainstream linux distro.

personally, I have got rid of taskbar and replaced it with a dock, similar to OSX. AThen when you add the Epose type functionality, a taskbar becomes redundant.

Ya, I think a lotta people get confused cos there's no dock installed / enabled by default in most distros, so they think they can't get the same kinda functionality as the Win 7 taskbar. Meanwhile, the Win 7 taskbar got it's ideas from dock features we've been using on Linux for a good coupla years now. (I had similar features back on 8.10 - that would be 2008 - and that's just when I discovered docks)
