Ubuntu looks to ARM servers

In the constant battle for performance and lower power consumption some OS makers are preparing for ARM-based server clusters

Interesting, arm cluster servers should make for some incredible scalability and very low cost.

Can't wait to see some off the shelf small business servers based on this.

im not surprised. x86 architecture is the biggest, most wasteful fckp i have ever gazed upon. Then they try cover it up with dollops of "HyperThreading", "TurboBoost", and what the hell ever else. And they cannot do anything about it since all the kernels are out there and they need to keep backwards compatibility.

ARM really is the future. Its a no brainer.

Don't under estimate x86. There are great strides being made in power efficiency on the processor side. Now if only we can get some efficient code from microsoft.

This. And there are other obstacles for ARM. They have really proven themselves in the mobile and low cost home market (ARM). They still have to prove themselves in the server market. Remember Itanium? Not all server software can be ported from x86 to ARM overnight.
