Ubuntu Oneiric gets a makeover

looking forward to this one, although, looking at that screenshot I think I prefer the black background of 11.04

I also hope you can hide those lenses and sources- they take up a lot of space.

lastly, I hope they take out recommended apps and replace it with something more useful, like a customizable favourite apps section.

I'm running it atm. I must say, from the point of view of it still being an alpha release, its very stable.

In terms of looks, it is much better looking than Natty, IMHO.

I tried going back to pre-unity Gnome after having used Unity for a couple of months, and I found it way more cumbersome.

LKooking at the screen shot, I can only say the following, bye bye windows and Kubuntu, you are both powned

Oh my word...I think I just peed my pants a little....ITS SO PRETTY!!!!!!

I hated Unity when I tried the current release of Ubuntu. Will give it another shot again when this version is released.

/looks at screenshot again....goes into a hypnotic state

I am not sure about this, I keep getting crashes and my Dash does not display all the icons; Dash crashes when I click on the items. Have filed a bud though. Not sure of this is related to nvidia+new kernel???

Oh and Carnicocal....please do something about the boot up screen! No one likes it when their screen goes into schitzo mode with code running around all over the place while its booting! Dont know if it is a GPU or CPU or VPU or whatever PU driver issue, but it not nice....so please make that pretty too! :-)

TIP: Change your repository Servers to Main as I don't think the SA servers are working or updating regularly atm.

By the time this Ubuntu hits 12.04 (LTS), I think it will really be outshining Windows and Macs in terms of looks an usability.
