Does anyone know of a way to install security updates only? Every method I've seen installs ALL updates. I never use a lot of the stuff wanting to be upgraded, so don't particularly want to waste bandwidth on those.

Check your /etc/apt/sources.list and comment out (using #) all the other stuff. Then

Code:
sudo aptitude update

open the file /etc/apt/sources.list

All the update sources are listed there. You can comment out any that you don't want to use. Sound like you will want to comment out the ones referencing ubuntu-update and leave all the ones referring to security-update.

Does the option in Software Sources(System->Software Sources->updates) not work? just untick everything except Important Security Updates
