Ubuntu server install

As someone who used to install tons of Ubuntu servers, I hate the new installer too. Just based on its layouts, etc.
I'm old-school, probably.

The installer is a steaming heap of poo.

Can't see why people use it.

Debian as a server is the best and for a desktop there is Mint.
There was a few releases that allowed you to fall back to the old installer, for backwards compatability. Not on mirrors, only the main repo.
I'm sure its discontinued now.

What’s the problem?

You just say Erase Everything and install over whatever was there before.

The best server software is Windows Server 2022. It has improved a lot, and is compatible with everything now. Move past your lust for Linux and get a copy. You'll thank me.

Look, windows has its place, and thats in desktops IMO. I dont hate on it, but I do hate on it when you are using it for servers if a Linux binary is an option.
Some software could force you to Windows, OK sure. But if there was an option to do it on Linux, you picked wrong.
There is a reason 80% of "the cloud" is Linux based OSs.

(In that same vein though, something like 60-70% of that is Ubuntu................ eish)

Any specific reason you are trying to use ubuntu server over something like Rocky?

Maybe because it’s only about a year old and Ubuntu has been a here for decades?

Yes yes I know before that it was really CentOS but still.

My mate is the fanbooi not me. I'm a happy Debian cult member.
Damn you Debian Cult members almost made me try it over server builds, almost...

Edit: Also going to be using Proxmox anyway, just need some server-based OS's for some things, but ubuntu server (ironically) has been working great for me over the past year. But will be trying rocky for other projects.

Ubuntu is a fat overweight load of lard.

The best system is cockpit-machines and the only thing better is the redhat enterprise release.
