I Get like 2mbps on my ubuntu server if i copy things and apparently that is rather slow, is there any way to speed it up and how can i find out what is my bottleneck?

i assume you mean a network copy? you can isolate the issue to disk or network for starters. the network should be running full-duplex. here is what i get on my not so sporty Dell laptop.

pixelbuffer ~ # hdparm -t /dev/sda2

/dev/sda2:
Timing buffered disk reads: 74 MB in 3.10 seconds = 23.84 MB/sec

pixelbuffer ~ # hdparm -T /dev/sda2

/dev/sda2:
Timing cached reads: 3146 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1574.28 MB/sec

pixelbuffer ~ # ethtool eth0
