Ubuntu User print magazine

thanks - i'd like to check that out.
what was the price ?

i'm half expecting it to be little more than a regurgitation of material one could find in abundance on the net, forums etc ~ cashing-in by skimming the finest off of already public info ~ but, hopefully there's more to it than that...

Price was R139 if memory serves me right. The content looked techinical but you could probably get it off the net for free. I purchased LXF instead for R169 as it contained Ubuntu/KDE/XFCE + Mandriva 2009.1 which is cheaper than downloading it. I tried them all and I hate them, waiting for KDE 4.3 with Arch.
 
i have found that there is no point in purchasing computer magazines for ANY OS

The only point I find is that it is cheaper to pay R170 for a magazine with a DVD than to try and download the distros of the net. Which is what I did with LXF.

You can get distros from FOSS quite cheaply surely?

I didn't do a lot of research but Axxess has 1GB local for R12. You can go to ftp.is.co.za or www.mirror.ac.za and download a CD for any distro.
