UCT proxy - What is it?

Hello there. I'm a first year UCT student and have just got home and to my disappointment, I can't use any internet sites other than UCT's, Vula (the university's webstudies site) and Facebook. I think it has something to do with the fact that I am still using the UCT proxy, so I turned it off in internet options but it still only connects to UCT sites deemed "intranet". Any advice?

How are you connecting to the internet from home? AFAIK EZ Proxy is the only proxy that is available to most students (besides the normal proxy for connecting while you are on campus, i.e.: you have a uct IP address). I think the proxy is www.uct.ac.za/cache.pac or something like that. If you are connecting from home, disable all proxies if you are connecting directly to the internet.

You're going to have to use ezproxy. http://login.ezproxy.uct.ac.za/
