UCT students to protest over fees

I don't really care where the money comes from, as long as the poor get a chance at a good education as well

Sure. no argument here. I just wonder why these rent a mob layabouts don't direct their anger in the right places instead of disrupting the university.

Universities have always been the location for protest by students

I'm entitled?

I don't know. Are you?

But cross subsidisation reeks of entitlement. Why should someone who works hard and saves for their kids education be responsible for someone who doesn't?

It is their fault the system is broken? Why must they pay and if they can't, why must they miss out because the fees are now too high? This is governments area, not other parents.

Lol. So that makes it right then? What are they asking for?

They are protesting against the size of the increase in fees. But odd that you're commenting in this thread if you don't even know that...

Yes. The only reason people are poor is because they don't work hard and don't save enough.

You are welcome to attend a different university if you don't like the cross subsidization or even better yet, organise a protest against this practice. Good luck with that.

I, however, don't mind it at all

Duh! Of course I know.

I'm asking you why the actual fsck would it cost a black working class student any more or less than any other class or colour of student?

You would would'n you. Anything for the ANC and their supporters as long as it's mahalla and someone else pay.

Because of their dads being previously disadvantaged and due to apartheid. Thats their entitlement even after all the laws and finances advantaged them and all the squandered public funds were directed to them for twenty years. They need another 200 years of cause.

Don't presume. I'm from a hard working working class family and My parents couldn't afford to send me to university. Thankfully my government in the UK gave me full bursary for fees and a loan to live on every year for 5 years. I paid it back in full over the following years when working.

You just don't get it, do you? Corruption is rife, politicians are raping the people and the minority that do pay taxes are seeing it squandered. Yet they must pay more?

Hold the government accountable ffs. It's their responsibility.

What? I assume you're asking why the increase affects mainly black students? That's because their parents are statistically massively poorer

And...wait for it....the government in the brainless and corrupt ANC squanders the tax money that could solve the problem on lavish parties, overseas trips and private residences and hotels, then the working class people that have the money must pay more to "subsidise" the others. Great thinking there as usual. Proportionately the black students are far in the majority ;) With the striking, burning tyres and other atrocities the proportion grows towards 98+%...that is fact as that is how they solve disputes and problems. Burn down the infrastructure is their solution

No, I'm asking because that is why they are protesting. Didn't you read the pamphlet?

The management of UCT has repeatedly used a pretend concern for the fees of black working class students to justify its refusal to pay its workers a living wage,”

Keep up.

But yeah...

“Yet, at the same time, the poorest UCT student (sic) has to pay out of their own pocket to attend university,”

Who else is going to pay? That's what taxes are for. Tell the government to use them instead of squandering them. It's not hard.
