Ugh...

BTW, should ADSL costs drop significantly as a result of the current ICASA hearings, I pity WBS for the current problems and especially the official silence - this is possibly their worst PR and marketing fiasco.

I just downloaded RPM's ICASA presentation at 6.7 kByte per sec. on GPRS using a 2 year old Nokia 6310.

Speed got better as the night wore on. I downloaded BB_Matt's 3.6MB radio1485 clip in about 42 seconds multithreaded (about 90KB/s).

Did quite a few international multithreaded downloads tonight, and the connection maxed out above 120KB/s quite often.

But single threads are very poor. And the Telkom Test is still only about 1/4 of its usual speed.

Gatecrasher almost exactually the same here in durban. At least the experience seems uniform. My guess wbs's time is running out.
Its simple Sasan fix it or explain it or that phenominal growth you saw in subscribers will flaten out and then go into decline. Unlike sentech who can basically do as they please as the state will bail them out you guys will out on the street.

That's a very good point... if these guys don't pull their act together, they'll lose all their customers and their business will fold. I wonder if they realise that?!

Speeds are almost non-existant this morning.

This is NOT good.

edit: This site is loading pretty quickly. I haven't tried any other local sites... hmmm... Could it be that I've been capped? But I still have 800Megs left?!

Then again... local should be capped as well, no? *shrug* I dunno...

hi, my speeds seem to be back now, still want to wait until later when traffic hits its peak. I was just thinking about the whole '15MB upgrade' you all know that this is alot of bullsh*t and would have no effect on our speeds right, because: 1. There are so few of us on iburst 2. If this was true, how was it possible to cater for all of us during the uncapped days? Anyways im not really a networks person(more of a programer) but this just sounds very fishy to me...anywayz i'll c how things progress as the day goes buy.

I had high hopes for iBurst and actually wish they succeed... SOON!!. However, I've lost hope for the immediate future.

But I'll stay, at least for some time to come: Slightly better than dial-up, permanently on (almost :) ), portable thus don't need fixed line, have coverage where I can't use Sentech and the most important: I don't need anything directly from Telkom! Want to see what MTN's got to offer over time...

WTF?!?! According to the BW meter I downloaded six hundred megs this weekend - HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THAT WITH THIS FCKED UP CONNECTION!?!

I can barely bloody open a website?!

NOT funny anymore!
