UK airplanes plot an attempt at 'mass murder'

No... we take the quiet diplomacy stance

Or the GW Bush school of diplomacy ???.

Sitting in some hot foul rancid foxhole somewhere in Afghanistan or Iraq busy getting shot at or blown up by the unfriendly natives does not really appeal to me.

I dunno about you but I rather like being amongst the living and going about my mundane daily routines :).

Quiet diplomacy ... I am all for it.

We side with the Palestinians - many anti-Israel governments are linked with the ANC anti-apartheid struggle.

That, IMO, is why we are not being bombed.

Someone show me Palestine's borders on a map...
/me runs and hides.

Quiet diplomacy = support for a certain regime (i.e. racism against whites in Zim).

On topic: The problem is that the UK (and most of the EU) have to be open to all people - whether it be Christians or terrorists. They should tighten up their immigration laws or else more unsavoury actions will take place in the UK.

I have very little sympathy for people and esp their govts when they turn their morality on and off like a switch when it suits their political agenda.

You make it sound like the the US and UK are the only countries operating like that... That is a bit naive TD. We all know nobody is right all the time and nobody is wrong all the time. Something you (and most people) forget is that democratic countries have changing governments. It is wrong to blame a current democratic government for the sins of past ones in any geographical area. Technically it is a new government every couple of years...

At least he is trying to do something about it. Unlike you who seems happy in your own mundane life. Until of course everything around you goes down the toilet.

There is a saying that if I remember correctly goes something like this.

"A liberal will do everything in their power to do nothing" ;)

Does this apply to South Africa aswell or are your double standards just a little bit too comfortable?

This is what is so scary about fanatics. They are unstable and unpredictable. All just to have the feeling of power. Power and money corrupts.
IMHO it would be a gesture of good faith if the real leaders of a certain group condemn the deeds of terrorism.
Unfortunately it is not the case it seems and these fanatics carry on and on.

I oppose what happened in lebanon and whatever fighting is happening now. There's no need to try to prove a point by killing civilians. Same what happened in 9/11. civilians died for other ppl's cause and zealot-type actions.

As for why no one wants to bomb SA: It wouldn't get as much attention as it would if the larger nations were targetted. SA is prob the easiest country in the world plan terrorist actions but it doesnt make sense doin it. It just wastes the terrorists' resources and their time. Rather catch the big fish.

i some how doubt this is as severe as it all sounds. I still believe alot of these near terrorist attack crack downs are a load of rubbsih designed to keep citizens in check and to support non sensical war efforts abroad. It comes at a perfect time with the problems in the middle east.

besides no one has answered why UK and USA are still within the borders of IRAQ considering there were no weapons of mass destruction.

As for Israel obliterating Lebanon - may the best army win.

I agree with you, not saying that there wasn't indeed a planned attack, but I think that the scale of the response as well as Bush's speech about the terries "hating us because we love freedom" is all a well planned way of garnering support from the public for the war on terror.

Propaganda most of it, IMHO

Yeah. Shock and awe.

Denny Crane

Brilliant!

I left the ANC and did not vote for them exactly because of their utter lack of morality regarding ARV treatment for Aids ... at the moment I support the ACDP because of their morality.

I have no double standards thank you very much ... so how about the rest of you ???.

My grandfather and my uncle volunteered for and fought the Nazi menace in North Africa and I am proud of them for doing that ... that was very neccessary war considering the pure evil of the Nazi's but this so called war on terror is as phony and staged as you can get.

I ain't that stupid to fall for patriotic garbage spewed forth by politicians who never served themselves or whose own children are safe at home.

That's my point. You lefties waited until the nazies had built the capabilities to wage a full scale war throughout Europe and Africa before you woke up. Had you done something earlier it wouldn't have come to that. Instead you fought any effort to comfront the nazies with your policy of appeasement. Like Bush you called Churchill a "Warmonger".

Your doing it all over again.
