Unable to ping own MWEB IP Address

Yea, turned on logging for Dropped, Accepted, Error, Port Access, Port Scanning, freaking everything. Log file was increasing by 50 lines every second (other rules) - however no reference to 3389 at all - it did pick up my Remote Desktop request when using 192.168.0.28, however when trying to connect via the WAN IP Address, not a single incoming request.

hmmm, that is kinda strange, where are you testing the WAN traffic from?
different locations? ur office? 3g?

it definitely sounds like the traffic is not getting there..if you try http/s to the router ip? do you see that in the logs?
Are you 100% certain you have the right ip?

Tried it from home, GF's house, office and 3G via Torrent-fu for Android - nada. Will try HTTP from an external source, however will have to make alterations as I've told my router to only accept HTTP logins from the 192.168.*.* range (Implemented this security feature about a year before these issues started)

I'm 100% sure I have the right IP address. It's changed from yesterday, but it's still a 41.135.!!.!!! address - reverse DNS lookup gives me 41-135-!!-!!.dsl.mweb.co.za.

I've been in contact with MWEB Guy, he's provided me a Test Account that I will log in with tonight - if I can log in fine, it's specific to my [email protected] account - if I can't log in, it's potentially something on my side.

Even if you cant log in, it will still show the dropped entry in the firewall log...
I am certain this is not an issue on ur side

So, after MWEB giving me a separate MWEB account to test with and still having the same thing (although it worked 100% when I switched to a friends Telkom account), I just tried again today out of the blue and it's working.

I can ping my own IP address, and subsequently everything else works in turn (Remote Desktop, HTTPS access to web interfaces on my machine)

Thanks for the assistance MWEB Guy, as well as everyone else on this forum. Sucks we'll never know the answer though, but we can completely rule out it being something on my side... so... go random techie! You're an unsung hero.
