Hi All

I need to find a way to make a unattended install of windows xp with drivers for 10 different motherboards and 3rd party software.

Eg
I need a disc I can boot off.
Windows xp gets installed and has all the drivers needed for all the motherboards in my office so that no matter what pc I format the correct drivers will be installed with.
Also I need to install apps like Firefox and vnc with.
All unattended

Is there a way to do this?

10 M/B difficult! 1 or 2 yes with a kind of rescue dvd, HP, Acer and them have. I would say max you could get on a dvd with be about 4 - but am open to correction.

You can try nlite, it has several options which are pretty simple to use: www.nliteos.com. Very cool software....

Did not see the 10 Motherboards part, but it should be OK, especially if you put it on a DVD.

nLite.

If you cant slipstream them just keep them in a seperate folder on the CD/DVD

Ill give nlite a try

If i have the motherboard drivers in different folders will they be auto installed?

Maybe a silly idea, but why not make 10 DVD's each slipstreamed using nlite with the custom drivers and 3rd party software for each machine. Make ISO's and save them on your network incase a DVD fails, then its just a case of burning the disc before doing the unattended install.

10 slipstreamed discs are not really that many come to think of it.

Unless one can find a utility that would let you boot the machine off a memory stick, and then lets you mount the ISO and then install the slipstreamed OS from the stick with the mounted ISO. I have never researched this idea though, but maybe worth a try.

Windows 7 needs very little customization in terms of drivers for mobos. On all 6 different PC's we have installed W7, it automatically detected the mobo and installed the correct drivers, and for 3rd party hardware, once you allow it access to the internet it will fetch those drivers it needs. For instance, one of the HP printers would not work on W7, no matter what we tried right after installation. However, 2 days ago it donwloaded the driver by itself and did the install unattended, and the printer just started working.

I know you said XP, but maybe now is the time to prepare for a W7 deployment. If your machines run XP with ease, W7 should be a breeze as it is light on resources compared to Vista.

Sorry my mind is wandering...:)
