This message confuses me slightly.
You have neutrals but you also dont?

All im saying is, just because a wire is black, does not make it a neutral.

No I think he is right in some way.

My ceiling fans in the braai room is similar. They don't have those hanging pull cords to change speed etc. Its a controller box that sits next to my wall switch. So the neutral and live goes into those, then from them again both to the ceiling fans. His description sounds similar to what I have.
 
I have to do this as well. I have 3 but my pet peeve is the one where I dont have to stretch my arms out to have access to both switches as it basically a doorway between the two. Worse it is starting to get gremlins. So it dont always work.

Sorry just confusing in the way it’s stated.


2-gang switch.

The light (which is the 2-way switch) has no neutrals.

In the same box the second switch is for the fan and that has neutrals.

So neutral in the same box but not relevant to the light switch that is 2-way.

My package from ISP is delayed. I was hoping it would reach my depot by tomorrow morning and I would go collect it rather than waiting for Monday for them to deliver to me. Was hoping to get some switches installed this weekend.

The guy from ISP sent me this screenshot on whatsapp a few min ago. Its unfortunate and out of his control but still good service on his part
 
I’m guessing it’s a legal requirement to have a wall switch for a ceiling fan in the first place?

Considering it’s actually controlled via the pull cords or in my case a smart controller and remote in most cases.

I’ve been thinking while doing all this switch work to maybe just get rid of those switches, but if it’s a legal thing I obviously can’t do that.

Getting very annoyed with domestic and other people turning off wall switches.

You need an isolator switch for a fan. Like I mentioned earlier you can have both a switch and smart switch at the same time, the switch will just be override switch but if it's on the smart switch won't work.

Yeah that kind of defeats the entire purpose of making the change.

Then might as well put a smart device on the current switch and that will only work on the 1-gang and maybe the 2-gang and cost way more money.

Hmmm, problem is half of these ceiling fans I was referring to are in fact bathroom extractor fans. :)
 
I opened up my 2 way switch to try install the smart switches and I also cant figure out how to do it. Ill ask my father to install it when he comes to visit lol
 
@SauRoNZA did you install your switches yet? Do you know if the capacitor can be installed on any of the loads? The pamphlet says capacitor goes on the first line, L1.

One of my lights is too high and I need to know if its possible to install it on L2 or L3

Not yet.

No idea really as I hope not to use it and just go neutral instead.
