Uncapped 384 - Afrihost or MWEB?

I've also been throttled on Afrihost 384. Usage for the month this far : 32gigs. Getting about 20KB/s now, used to be 38KB/s. Noticed last night.

I've been happy enough, it's got a couple of ups and downs to be sure, but after paying a third more for ten gigs, it is truly ****ing wonderful not having to stress at all about what you download. Awesome. The way it should be.

If only I could get a faster line, but over a grand for internet is beyond ludicrous.

The Telkom upgrade would've resolved quite a few problems. Shame they postponed it. We not even sure it will go 384-->1meg.

What upgrade? All I heard was a year of rumours and then Telkom refused to comment.

****ers.

Broadband my ass.

Yep, I would be grateful to even get a free 512k upgrade...

Not Afrihost

I tried downloading using ftp, HTTP, getright, torrent and everything else, e.g. IS news groups. Local and International. IS news server just sucks!!!! I have a network monitor installed and could see the download speed at all times. I realy tried to push it.

I have a 4mb line and a 365 line. During the day all downloads are bad.

I tried Afrihost and it was so so. Wanted to cancel in the last 5 days of the month.... could not do so. F......K. Although I could generally access a website, I could not connect to their client zone. hahaha Several websites just bombed out and had to reload them 4 to 5 times before I get them. Whether they were local or international, did not matter.

On Afrihost i got more or less 50 gb download on the 4mb line and 23 gig on the 365.

I then went to Openweb.... O my god. Never got any full speed on any line, never!!!! not during the day nor night. On the 365 line I had a combined download of less than 30kb/s, never more. On the 4mb line, maybeeeeee I got 256kb/s at the most. Please avoid.

Next month, July, I am going to give Mweb a try. My son has his holidays and he plays a lot of games. Openweb was a desaster. Not even Facebook worked and my wife abandoned it. According my son.s freind on xfire, Mweb has a good game latency. We will see.

BTW: on Openweb I had to submit this page 4 times before it completed the upload.

I don't recommend 384 on Mweb. There is a speed below which things become rather tedious. At least with 4, you don't notice the effect as much. You can download 30gigs a month on the slowest line, but you won't be able to do it until late at night and games will suck.

Nah, more like 60GB a month...

Gee, you're very bitter.

I would seriously advise against AH right now, I'm not sure if its going to continue but I am on a 512 line & am definitely not one of the 7% big talkers on the lines and I have been unable to do ***** the past few days , webpages barely open , itunes appstore wont even load. Its pretty much like having a 56K line ...

Hopefully this gets sorted out soon but I don't feel all that positive it all due to the absolutely flatline of response and support for them? Feels like they are not telling us something , will wait another month to give em the benefit of the doubt but just in case does anyone know if MWEB is still only availble on 12 month contract?
