Currently with IS from Imagine and although Imagine's service is wonderful, the IS Uncapped is most definitely not.

So my question is, for 384kb uncapped internet, is MWEB or Afrihost the better choice? I am already a client of Afrihost so that will be easier, but if Mweb's offering is much better, then I will rather go with them....

Thanks.

I have the 384kb uncapped from MWEB and I'm stoked with it. I have transferred 27GB in the 13 days I've had the account... so no complaints!

Go with mweb had it since it came out and i got no complaints there is no throttling .
I get + - 50gigs a month but thats not constant i rate i could get alot more but don't see the need .
Its the R219pm package .

Afrihost have just altered there terms and conditions again, lot of unhappy campers out there about the new fup, including myself mweb is sounding like the winner at the moment. The throttling on Afrihost rendered my connection useless and unusable. I have cancelled and up and runnig again with MWEB.

Having actually used both accounts, Afrihost was better quality granted that you didn't overstep their "limits" and get throttled. They've now changed this to throttling the top +-7% of their users which you probably won't be part of with a 384kb account in any case. So what you get with Afrihost is normal IS account performance, instead of MWeb's all-round throttling that limits torrents etc quite a lot.

I could always get 400Kb on torrents with Afrihost, but then the 50/100Gb limit wasn't appealing. With Mweb it's <100Kb during the day (often a lot less) and not full speed even at night. Depends if you're worried about P2P performance, and if 384Kb accounts are even that badly throttled with MWeb.

Can't comment on the 384k MWEB uncapped account, but I'm quite happy with Afrihost.

Since you are already with AH, give them a try.
I use an AH 384 uncapped account and am happy enough to not consider changing.
If I was on a 4mb/s line, it would be a different story I think.

You can upgrade your capped AH to uncapped on a pro-rated basis, to test until
month end, but bear in mind that 25th is their month end, so not much time to play.

Both of these companies are offering products that have some issues. They both want to offer the world in the form of uncapped no limits internet and want the glory for doing so. However both try their level best to limit everything that isn't browsing or software updates. Support for these accounts is very degraded, which may be how they can afford to offer them. If you want to be given a clearer (though changeable) picture of what you can and cannot do, then go Afrihost. If you want to be given promises of fixing just about everything including obvious faults, but without any solution (ever) then go Mweb. Mweb will stop you doing P2P, games, video streaming, Skype and anything else that uses cap. Afrihost will allow things up to a point and then throttle you. Either way you get much the same in the end.

Hi,

My vote to Mweb, but how much are you expecting to download?

What a surprising response
