Uncapped 4 Mbps ADSL service launched

No offense... but who writes these stupid headlines? Getting me all excited for nothing:mad:

"R2899" for internet is CRAZY!! how many new sea cables is it gonna take before internet changes in this country.. i pay nearly R1800 on internet just to work here, when im in uk it cost me 18pounds for virgins 50mb thats R217, stuff really has to change

Congrats to MrBeeps and all at Openweb on a great business solution. Keep up the good work!

I know it doesn't seem like such a great deal to some, but this isn't intended for personal use. Relative to other offers on the market for small business, this is great!

Yeah, its hard to believe that an ADSL product with specs well below European entry level broadband can rip you R2899pm, and then you still have to fork out another R544pm for Telkom's ludicrous double line rentals.

Half the speed and fifteen times the price. Just sick.

looks like openweb is trying, was with then for some time and their service was good.

This is not a "new" offering from Openweb by any stretch of the imagination. lol. I guess if you were/are a sponsor here you get a set amount of front page articles per month as ads.

The Durban based ISP has recently launched their ‘4096k All Hours Uncapped ADSL with no limits’ account retailing for R2899.

...and just as I was about to pack my bags and ask the boss for a transfer to Durban, I see the price!

Just who do they think they're catch with this  price?

Considering that the cheapest 1Mbps uncapped adsl account costs R3299 per month, I will be moving my business line over to this account. 1 to 4Mbps I can live with that! For cheaper, I have no problem with that!

I do not think those reading this article and commenting read this line:

“This is the first of many business ADSL packages that OpenWeb will be launching over the next few weeks."

Key word = business

Hi all,

Update!

Simon Kuhn helped in sorting the line out, it's up and running now, we busy testing it.

Yes, we finally have it!!! OMG! 2 and a half months later!

We are busy pushing the line (trying to get full 4MB) it seems, during the day, it drops, currently, we are ONLY getting about 50KB/s where as night that seems to fix itself.

As we said, we are pushing it and monitoring it and will post some more information down the line.

We remind you that we got this because it's uncapped 4MB but I think there is a bit of fine print that Vodacom didn't include like "during the day, you won't get full 4MB but at night you will"

VodacomData, can you comment?

Have fun doing business on 50k...ask nick@KABTech for some of the calming tablets he's taken for the wait...

i think this is more for companies etc as R2899 is still way to much for the average man to afford for access to information at such high speeds

Any company using Vodacom, after reading about nick@KABTech's experience, may not be in business long...if that's the way they allow themselves to be treated...

Vodacom should be boycotted for daring to try and sell that type of service and product...
