Uncapped ADSL bundle price comparison

We need some real life comparison, as it is the prices in most cases are only a few rand so it is not really worth the hassle of changing isp's for a few rand. A decent unbiased life tested comparison will really show who is giving the best bang for buck. Another thing not taken into account is bundled packages which can make a price difference as well.

You could also add Afrihost to the 2mb table at 497.

Cool table though. Nice to see the comparison on one page.
I didn't realize that MWeb was cheaper than the current Afrihost bundle I have.

Mweb's 4mbps bundle is for the throttled service... Not worth it in my opinion :)

I put my months notice into mweb and changing to afrihost as mweb premium 4mb adsl is about R130 more expensive. I am on premium with Mweb and did tests with my free 1GB afrihost account. Afrihost downloaded torrents during the day much faster than mweb so a no brainer for me. I will change back if I find it was just a good day for afrihost and a bad one for mweb, wish they would give a free 1GB account for testing though.

Mhhhhh...@ 10Mbps

Cybersmart = R 895.00
Mweb = R 1395.00
Diff = R500.00

We do need "some real life comparison" there.:)

Keep in mind that the 1GB account with afrihost is unshaped, whereas your mweb "premium" account is probably of the shaped variety ;)
So you really can't compare them -especially on something that's pretty much shaped all the time (torrents).

This article should point out what a pain in the ass experience it is to get your line back once you've given it to an ISP

These are the prices of MWEB's "standard" uncapped, not premium.. from what I gather they are rather shyte

Still a big difference between the "free" 1GB Afrihost and their uncapped - do not judge what your going to get.

So the Mweb Uncapped 10meg is my current account and while the most expensive of the lot, has been really good in terms of quality of service as a whole. Torrents, NNTP and Hulu/Netflix work great.

How do the other 10 meg services compare against that ?

The Telkom option has been catching my interest of late but from their feedback thread on the forum seems iffy.

Agree with other comments - some sort of real world comparison is needed on service level for various protocols and times.

agree , money wise some might look better than other but service and reliability is another
