Well there is now a NEW ADSL provider in South Africa, although they are only selling to Corporates.

RPM, u will have to add UUNEt ADSL to the list of providers.

They are not selling Telkom ADSL Accounts, but rather their own ones.

These are NOT VPN or Proxy accounts, but rather full ADSL connectivity.

For more information, feel free to contact me.

Hi Garfield

I did contact UUNet and am still waiting for the promised feedback...

Hi RPM

I am currently using a UUNet uncapped account, and all I can say is that it is amazing.

I am also reselling these accounts now.

Thanks

Hi Garfield

It will be interesting to see where it fits in in our next round of testing... The price is high, but maybe it can make up in performance...

RPM

They did shaped the p2p's, because of abuse on it.... I was abusing too, *gg* I downloaded in 13 days 23 GB...

They are shaping P2P and ICMP (to prevent ping of death) since your IP is auto-static. The IP will only change if you are disconnected for longer than 24 hours as far as I am aware. I have sold several accounts and all users state they are keeping the same IP and are not experiencing the 24 hour Telkom disconnect ritual either.

I have found that try to play online games before 7:30 pm at night is really bad, with ping times as high as 950 at times. Since this is meant as a corporate solution I do not think there is really room to complain.

Could some1 give a bit more detail on the shaping?

How badly are these protocols being degraded? Are they still usable?

I heard today that they are going to ease up on the icmp throttle, but not the p2p.

p2p throttle can be compared to a 64k isdn line.

:D I thought it was only WBS which change their minds on p2p.

I find it so sad that all these broadband providers grind p2p down to nothing almost. If you payed for the connection you should be allowed to use it as you please.

online game locally or internationally? Im getting uunet soon or atleast when they decide to come do their thing. They came out to check out my bro inlaw bus. and said monday, its now thursday but who can complain its still in beta.

About the p2p thing, I think its fair that they shape p2p as it really does just mess up everything. However I think zahub has made something gr8 and they should maybe just unshape local p2p hence not eating internation bw.

*** gaming international ping 950 or local ???? ***
