Hi guys

Trying my luck here, as other post got no response lol.

Moved into a newly built estate. Applied for 10mb uncapped ADSL (Fibre not available) only to be told by Telkom that because this is a newly built estate, the owners of the estate need to apply to have Telkom allow them to come setup fixed lines.

How do I go about getting this done?

Also, if anyone can suggest any alternative for uncapped internet, not more than R1000, please drop your comments.

Cheers

They dont offer uncapped.

All get seriously throlled at about 200gb.

Anything else and Im looking at R2k per month

You don't you move out of the estate, checking telkom adsl or fiber is first thing you check when you buy or rent a new flat.

It can takes months/years for telkom to connect the place after you get approval.

You will have get telkom LTE uncapped. You have buy the deal from someone that has original uncapped deal which only throttles at 300gb.

I moved into a complex in 2010, was assured by Telkom that yes ADSL is available, moved into it and guess what all ports were full. Took until 2014 before I actually got ADSL and it was only 4meg. Luckily though it did have Telkom conduits, I also championed for years to get fibre in, one month before I moved bam fibre sigh.
Does the complex have the conduiting for Telkom or fibre? If not this would cause some issues, as you'd have to get the newly formed body corporate (including you) together to sort it out, which could cost money, unless you can get SADV or some such provider to lay the cables for a set fee.

Hi Lupus

There is the old block of units which is placed next to the road, looks like there is conduit to that block.

We are in the new units just behind the old block.

Spoke to the owner, turns out he doesn't want any conduit laid to new units as he doesn't want any paving lifted.Dont see any way round this.
