So it seems that mweb has the cheapest uncapped adsl option at R199 per month on a 1mb line but it's shaped. My question is how does the shaping work? Do they slow my connection down after I've exceeding a certain amount of data and if so what speed do I receive once I've been shaped?

The shaping is dynamic, based on network conditions. I'm new to Mweb but everything runs amazing for me. There are no "limits" to how much you can download, you just need to make sure you don't break their abuse policies (such as 3rd party torrent to http services, etc).

I'm with mweb uncapped since it launched. First 384k, and now 1mb. Works fantastic. Don't really notice the shaping for 'normal' downloads. Usually download one episode of a series a week or a movie a month. As long as u don't join intending to download the internet, it is very good value for money. Also, being uncapped,I don't have to worry about running out of data, so I can view youtube, get mp3s to my hearts content. Shaping usually occurs during the day, weekends and after hours gets full speed iirc

So if download 3 movies a week would this be a problem and when the line is shaped what speed would a 1mb line download at?

It depends whether you use usenet or torrents. I get fullspeed on news.mweb.co.za 24/7. I don't do torrents...
4x3 movies? Depends at what quality :D

Work very good, except international traffic. Local traffic, downloads is all good, except when you access lots of sites international. We been on it for the past 18 months and most of the time work on our websites internationally. We dont get the speed for international sites as for local sites (in relation) and also constantly struggle with broken connections. (Big sites will load half way and stop).

I haven't ever had that problem with any of the ISPs I've been at.
