Hi

Can any one tell me how slow is uncapped Internet compared to capped. I'm not a heavy downloader mostly browsing, YouTube and games online will uncapped work for me. I will be on the 2mb line once it is upgraded.

Thanks

Check out the methodology used for the uncapped service. Throttled services give you a certain speed until you reach the throttling limit. These give good speeds if you stay within limits. Prioritisation services give priority to services such as basic web browsing and email or prioritise you as a user based on your usage patterns. These services tend to slow down in the day and pick up at night. Unthrottled services cost more and give more speed. Best check out the detail with the ISPs you are looking at.

my friend gets +- 40kb/s on his 1mb line during the day - roughly 384 speeds and about 80kb/s on his 2mb line... mostly full speed at night. He is on telkom uncapped.

For your uses you won't notice any difference in speed.

I usually use between 15 to 20 gigs. But uncapped is cheaper than capped accounts that's why I want to move to uncapped.

Just do it then, you can always cancel (1 month notice) if you don't like it and go back to a capped solution. Once you go uncapped though there is no going back.

Yes it does.

Have a look at @lantic. They offer a semi-uncapped solution where you pay only R59 per month (uncapped bolt-on): Your usage during the day is billed extra at R15/gb and usage after 6pm and over weekends are uncapped.

i am with mweb and get about 35kb/s in the day (torrent)
and at night i get around 90kb/s (torrent)

but other dl's run about 100kb/s + day and night

does anyone know how to uncapped a capped put on by your service provider? If you have a link to a how to page that would be great. Thanks

If you have a link to a page that explains to me what you are trying to say here, that would be great. Thanks

On Afrihost uncapped 4MB. I don't feel any difference at all, neither in ping nor in speed. According to Afriman they don't throttle but manage your account, that means that some services don't get priority all the time. I guess that's just fair.

Highly recommended!
