So for tonight and tomorrow I'm still on Axxess express+, and its been a pleasuer (well, after dark)
From the 1st April I'll be on Axxesss Uncapped Shaped

I have been playing Modern Warfare 2 on it and getting excellent pings... on a 10 bar I get 9 bars if I'm not hosting. On speedtest.net I get no more than 39ms to the josi server

My question is for those of you already on one of the uncapped (though shaped/port prioritized) services and playing MW2. What is the latency like?

I have heard from Axxess Tech support that the lines are ALWAYS heavily shaped, even at night, so unsure if I should try and cancel and rather try out mweb uncapped.

Any experiences would be appreciated.

Hi Foxeye. I'm with Afrihost uncapped (4-meg) since friday night. I've played about 10 hours this weekend, and I've not had any issues. The green bars in MW2 indicating your connection speed is between 3-4 bars. Not sure what the latency is, cause I dont know where to check inside MW2. My 2cents

Ok here goes with the latency thing in MW2. If you changed the ping settings display in yor game configs file to 10 bars and 20ms intervals 10 bars = 0 - 20ms ping. 1 red dot will be +200ms ping. The standard when the game is installed is 4 bars mac that represents 0 - 50ms when 4 is visible and +200ms when you have 1 dot.

Back to the discussion about the uncapped ADSL from Afrihost and the rest of them. I have huge latency problems on my 4meg service between 17:30 and 23:00 in the evenings regardless of the ISP I use. I have 4 different ISP accounts that I have tested over the last few months and they are all the same except for one and that is my Telkom account seeing that they utilise the SAIX backbone directly and not going through another network before climbing onto it like Afrihost onto IS and then through to SAIX and so on. You get the picture....

We will have to wait and see what the future holds with these uncapped accounts..
