I assume it would. I think it's on a google server, and google is unblocked. I stand corrected though

Received SIM yesterday.
TERRIBLE!!!
1. 90% of the normal websites not opening
2. WhatsUp and SKYPE not working
3. App update (4 meg) from Google was 24 min

I have dual sim smartphone 4G/3G. With telkom 10G SIM everything is flying
Max speed in Midrand was 80Mbbs. All other services 100% working with Telkom
 
RichardG yeah lets laugh at people who still have morals. Anyways looking at that R70 package it seems worth it. If your kid has that they won't really bother you to recharge every so often. This would be perfect for the wife.

Have you tried any navigation services with it? Google maps / Waze navigation?

It is not blocked, but it is nearly impossible - when you on the road. Connection speed restrict to download next piece of map.
Stationary you can see, but it take ages.
Verdict: - unusable

These SIMs do have some restrictions, though – the download speed is limited (throttled) to 258kbps by Vetex.

I can understand being all draconian about certain sites/services:

The uncapped services exclude browsing and downloading porn, audio/video streaming services, and gambling sites.

But why throttle the life out of the permitted sites/services to the point of it being practically unusable?!

There's a market for uncapped mobile, with legit usage. There are always those that'll try to abuse it and klap 50GB of torrents/p2p/vpn downloads. [I did ~135GB last month on my UK mobile :o]

Throttling isn't the way to go though: extreme shaping is. I don't mind proper, transparent shaping. I'm shaped on protocol and by time of day. Between ~2am to 7am, I get close to full LTE speed on torrents- if they network is underutilised then, why not? During the day, torrents are a waste of time/battery, so I don't bother. They don't work at all betweek 5pm-12pm. Updating apps (up to 2GB a pop!) flies during the day though, as does general browsing and streaming.

FWIW, my legit usage was something along the lines of:

7GB - TubeMate
4.7GB - Google Play Music
2GB - Ingress
1.3GB - BaconReader
800MB - Play Store
300MB - Chrome

That's what you okes need in SA - changes how you use your phone! :)

It's immoral to sell 10% service for 100% price. If you're in Rome then give what the Romans want or GTFO.
