I dunno about you guys, and I'm sure I'm not the only to say this, but the novelty of uncapped is starting to wear off. I've done about 160GB's in downloads and I've reached the point where I'm only getting stuff that i need, not like before I see something and I take it JUST BECAUSE I CAN. Also, I'm starting to run out of hard drive space, 2TB's is just not enough if you wanna DOWNLOAD-THE-WEB.

I didn't think it would happen this soon but i guess it's a good thing. Anyone else feel the same?

I do what I have always done, download whatever I find interesting, but with the terrible speeds most of the time I dont get very much anyway.

Well dude if you have been downloading for the sake of download then it is indeed nothing more than novelty, common sense will prevail and you will find yourself downloading stuff you want as opposed to just downloading for the sake of downloading.

Not sure why people would just download crap they do not even want. Pretty doff logic saying o well i have uncapped let go download everything i see because i can.

I think its more to do with the series drought since the beging of the year... the new shows have only just started up again.

Nah, it's not that. I download about 10-15 series (HD) and follow them all but you can only follow so many series.

@Gary: I download a lot of videos (movies, trailers, series, ect) and I like watching them in HD. For my needs (per GB) Uncapped is the perfect solution for me. I think I will probably average 100GB per month but the most important thing for me about Uncapped is that I don't have to worry about being capped anymore.

I wasn't downloading stuff i didn't want, it was mostly things i didn't NEED, i.e. games I'm probably only ever going to play once, previous seasons of series that I like but in HD, movies I like in HD, ect.

I always figured this would happen..

Everyone was going on and on about the fair usage policy but in a few months, it'l be a non-issue.
Everyone will come to their senses and realize that they don't need to download the whole interwebz, they just need a stable, fast connection with enough capacity for everyday tasks - and lets face it, +-200GB is really quite a bit (for now)..

All of this is just my virtual impression of the glory of uncapped, as Telkom does not yet think I'm worthy of a copper cable to my home...

Assuming you're with MWEB?

I signed up during the DigiChilli/Screamer days in December, and by Feb i was done downloading the interwebs. Now i know i'll comfortably come out with 30GB a month even if i stream stuff every night. The trick is to start learning the term "on demand" usage, instead of downloading the entire 8 seasons of 24 [and only watching 1 season a month] , just watch it when you actually want to watch it.

So yea the novelty wears off.

I'm actually at that point where i don't want to download series or torrents or P2P , i just want to click play and watch the episode/movie i want to watch . I don't want to figure out where to download it , or where to store it and whether i should download all the episodes or seasons. If i feel like watching Quantum Leap, i want to click on episode 1 and watch it, if i then want to watch Seinfeld, then i don't want to download Seinfeld first, i want to click and watch and done.

I don't want to burn or store or hoard digital content...if you think about it, it's totally contradicting the theory of uncapped/unlimited internet. I mean why store stuff if you can get it on-demand online?

Annnyway, since i know 30GB i can comfortably watch episodic content EVERY NIGHT [streaming] and even stream music the same way [without hoarding a massive 50GB collection locally] i believe uncapped offerings is too expensive for my needs. R500 for 30GB is still the cheapest you'll get, but i'd prefer paying less for 30GB than paying more because it is called "uncapped".

Even games are moving rapidly towards totally online distribution/streaming. No more downloading 15GB clients, you just click play and it plays.

This is the future : http://tigerwoodsonline.ea.com/play

I totally agree - when I first got my uncapped line there was a lot of stuff I had wanted to download, but could never afford the bandwidth before. Now I'm basically up to date, but I'm still enjoying not having to worry everytime one of the kids logs onto YouTube!

This is actually a very good thing, and it bodes well for the future of uncapped offerings in SA!

Jan - 65GB
Feb - 40GB
Mar - 8GB (I was away for 2 weeks)
Apr- 20GB so far

What I like though is that I can use it when I want to, some months might be low but when times come I can push it if I need to. I reckon I will average in the 40-60GB range though.

Funny to see people act like kids at a party table... snatching fistfuls of Jelly Tots and Nik-Naks before anyone else can get them...

Surely part of the point of uncapped is so that you needn't store everything locally?

Whatever you want you can just download or stream it when you want it then delete once you have watched it?

How can anyone else get space to store this stuff anyway? I thought all your terabytes are belong to Rendier?

No, it's more like starving homeless children at a party table. South Africa has been starved for TO long of Bandwidth, now guys like me will try and gobble up as much of the internet as possible. But like I said, the novelty is wearing off now, I've sorta had my fill and will use it more frugally from now on.

i know what you mean..

i went from 3gb / month on 384 like to 70gb per month on my 4mb...

with my very dodgy AH connection, i predicted 150gb per month..but thats not going to happen now with the severe shaping...

maybe its a good thing for me...give me time to calm down a bit.
