uncapped thievery ?

Report ISP`s that lie about "uncapped" products to the ASA. I am not to sure what a "threshold" is, but if its snake for "capped", take the bastards to the ASA. Make them accountable for their deceit.

more than one would be a start.

and btw this IS 'uncapped' is actually cleverly connected vpn's - that why no end user config of the router
can't let those connection passwords out....

The one I was given isnt.

I've got something downloading at a blistering pace of 23KB/s today - smallest of problems though - I have to pause it if I want to browse. :o

holy crap! you cant be serious

does this apply to all uncapped IS DSL options?

Where have you ever seen a country, that Defies the standard dictionary definition for things? South Africa stepped up to the challenge and became the first place where there was a need to invent some new terms and definitions for certain things:

- Per Second Billing was just not enough for them. They invented the term True Per Second Billing to cater for this.
- Uncapped ADSL also did not fit into the standard dictionary definition anymore. They invented the term True Uncapped ADSL to cater for this.

eish

i still think its pretty weak of them Changing your Current "Uncapped" account to a Account that has a 15gig or 30gig "Threshold"

That is true lameness and to be honnest i think its unlawfull.

You bought the account under the pretence that it is Uncapped wich means unmetered, and they go change the account status overnight. That isn't on, not on at all. sheesh

Also to Advertise a product as "Uncapped" and then give a "threshold" is mis-advertising at its best. Its like advertising one thing and giving you another thing.

...wonderful that we all noticing this - maybe time to really do something about this,

shall we all try some asasa instead of just saying or thinking its wrong ?

Already constructing a complaint. :D :D

Well, thus far we can complain to the fact that:

Honesty
Advertisements should be honest and not abuse consumer’s trust or lack of knowledge.

Misleading claims
Advertisements should not contain any statements or visual presentations, which directly or by implication, omission, ambiguity or exaggeration is likely to mislead consumers.

Or even
Non-availability of advertised products
Advertisements should not be published unless the advertiser has reasonable grounds for believing that any demand that is likely to be crated by advertising can be met. :p

as per gameCO threshold explination

The thresholds are as follows:
384K= 15 Gig for 30 days which is divided in 3 segments of 5 Gig each. The usage is monitored over a 10 day rolling window period. Should you reach these thresholds the service still remains uncapped but your download speeds are reduced by half (192K)

512K = 30 Gig for 30 days which is divided in 3 segments of 10 Gig each. The usage is monitored over a 10 day rolling window period. Should you reach these thresholds the service still remains uncapped but your download speeds are reduced by half (256K)

1024K= 60 Gig for 30 days which is divided in 3 segments of 20 Gig each. The usage is monitored over a 10 day rolling window period. Should you reach these thresholds the service still remains uncapped but your download speeds are reduced by half (512K)

there you have it nice 'uncapped' 15,30 and 60 capped packapges

Who are you all laying these complaints against? IS or the isp?

I would say the different ISP's, cause they are the ones "Advertising" it. Although I am still working through the ASASA Code of Advertising Practice, but I seem to be struggling with the outlay of the arguments and my English today

Is ASASA any good, or at least better than the ISPA? Because on 06/08/2007 I submitted a Code of Conduct Complaint against one of their members. I only heard from them yesterday 22/08/2007. Now only does the said ISP have 10 days left to respond.

Isn't ICASA and the TELKOM talks on again sometime??? To review the Regulations, of local capping, International prices, Issue about 24hour resets, etc..etc..etc

other main thug in this story is ImCastratedSupervisionAgency - gauvamint not going to let them fondle to much with their cashcow geenkom.

...got response from Asasa unfortiantly its unfortunately/nda ;)

- things are being investigated.

you guys dont see the bigger picture with these *Threshold.

The Express accounts are subjected to usage monitoring by Internet Solutions. The service is allocated a certain threshold for the month which is divided into a 10 day rolling window. If you reach your 10 day threshold before the 10th day, your available bandwidth will be halved (e.g. 512 kbps will be reduced to 256 kbps). However, if your consumption is reduced, your bandwidth will be restored to the purchased level.
this means when you reach your threshold your internet speed will be halved. you can still download as much as you want after the threshold but not as high speeds.

the people that say they are not uncapped are noobs and should get there facts straight
:cool::cool:

Well, Its not uncapped. Klaar oor en verby! They advertise a 384k UNCAPPED, but after reaching my threshold, I suddenly get punished because I USED my UNCAPPED account I was paying for. Rather sell is as a 384/192 Limited Usage account then.

And no, they are not noobs.
