Under eating

Well sometimes days seem more mainstream meal wise - day before:

Breakfast:
2 eggs, whole wheat bread, tomato, banana

Lunch:
Roast chicken with large portion of veg n a ladel full of rice

Snack:
2 Gingerbread cookies (I cheated_

Dinner:
Cracker bread concoction again but with a side of peri peri liver ^_^

Protein shake-

Still 1400 calories.

Does undereating not also cause an increase in fat retention, as your body tries to store as much fat as possible to prevent starvation?

By eating a healthy diet, smaller more frequent meals and meeting your calorie requirements, will your body not store less fat and also increase your metabolism, granted that you at least do some form of training?

Not sure if the above is correct but believe it to be.

If you can't "eat" anymore, why not have a couple of beers or glasses of red wine. Not bad for you in moderation and will up your calorie intake?

Well upping it with a calorie dense food like peanut butter in my shake would be easy. Just not sure if I need to - looking at the menu I don't think I am undereating :P

Then again thats what I thought about my 800 calorie diet.

Was eating:

Breakfast:
1 egg,1 slice whole wheat.

Lunch
Lettuce, cucumber and chicken salad (no dressing) - small

Dinner Protein shake

- Just check BMR
Approx 1600 calories -

So should perhaps lift to 1800 calories

Starvation dieting is extremely dangerous. It's good that you realized what was happening in time. Weight loss and body fat percentage is only a small part of the goal of a health regime, which is looking good and being healthy.

It's not the amount of calories that's dangerous, your body can adjust, but the amount of nutrients can be very dangerous. What were you eating that made up the 1000 cals?

Hey Patrick, pretty sure I posted what I used to eat here somewhere

Breakfast
1 egg, 1 brown toast

Lunch
salad + cottage cheese + chicken

Dinner - Protein shake

Diet was under 1000-

New diet is going fantastically, feel more energetic and weight is coming off nicely-
Also strength has gone up with lifts - so far so good
