How many times have we heard this same story and every time the deadline passes the people who are whipping themselves into a frenzy over it go quite for a month or two and then come back with a revised timeline.

Honestly the chances of the U.S going to war with Iran in the last months of Dubya's presidency is extremely unlikely. Even if they did it probably has nothing to do with the cables.
At most they might have some air strikes if Obama's is looking like the likely winner to set back the Iran's nuke program, before Iran gets the proverbial green light from the Chamberlain clone. But really that is stretching it a lot considering the ramifications
