Understanding Telkom's cost/mb calculation

Does anyone understand how Telkom arrives at it's cost/mb figures?

As an example, on this page http://www.telkommobile.co.za/plans/postpaid-data/24-months/#2 the "SmartInternet 750MB Promo" package has a monthly cost of R179, and offers a bandwidth of 750MB. Using the formular: "monthly cost" divided by "data limit" (i.e. 179 / 750), the cost/mb works out to approx 24cents. However Telkom lists the cost/mb as 3c. The other packages listed on that page exhibit similar discrepancies.

With other service providers, the cost/mb quoted by the providers work out to "monthly cost" divided by "data limit". Why is Telkom's different?

(I just realised this thread should probably go under "Mobile broadband". I'm not sure if I can move the thread. since the issue raised is not mobile-specific, I'll leave this here unless someone complains bitterly)

I don't know. Changing the device from "Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite" to the Huawei B593 router changes the monthly cost to R399 and data to 5GB, but cost/mb remains 3c. So it's still elusive as to how they arrive at 3c/mb (Perhaps the fact that the cost/mb figure isn't changing is a result of a coding error on the website. That could also explain the seemingly wrong calculation in first place. But that's just me speculating)

Well if they say that its R0.03 per MB then I can only assume that the balance goes towards paying for the actual device.

I am with MKFrost. The bundling of the devices in to the cost makes it very tricky to calculate the actual cost per MB and you will have to accept the figure that they have said.
