Understanding the Japanese Broadband Miracle

I found this very interesting. Take a look at those graphs regarding population densities versus broadband penetration. Very sparsely populated countries like Iceland, Norway, Finland, Canada etc. seem to have large numbers of broadband subscribers.

They're all pretty cold countries, so they mostly stay indoors...next to the toasty PC and ADSL modem. Either that or they going skiing/boarding

... and when they do go away to their holiday homes in the Summer they have uncapped 3.6Mbps HSDPA at ~R200 to look forward to.
