I am trying to get a Unifi AR LP to work and I am getting no where, thinking maybe its dead?

I have POE and LAN cables plugged in, the unit has power, I have factory reset it so the light is on steady orange. But for the life of me cannot get it to show up either using the software or via my routers device list. It's not showing up as a wired client on my router. I also can't see it's mac address in the client list.

Any suggestions most welcome. Is it possible lightning hit it? Are they sensitive?

Cheers

Having a relatable issue. I can see the unit but for no money get it an IP assigned so that I can use it.
Step 1. Disable your antivirus. I cannot see anything with mine enabled.

Do you have a Unifi Controller on your network? That's the first step, as far as I recall.

Thanks guys. Have turned off my firewall but no luck. Might have to add an exception on my router perhaps.

If you reset it, it should pickup an IP from DHCP.

If it's not getting an IP from DHCP, it might have reverted to 192.168.1.20 ... try assigning your workstation 192.168.1.10 and see if you can ping 192.168.1.20?

EDIT: Is your cabling 100%? One of the pairs might be goosed, UAP might be getting power but not data.

When you say "software" are you referring to the Controller?

Because there is no web interface and you cannot connect directly to it like that.

Ubiquiti used to have a separate "finder" tool. How did you reset it if not using that?

Solid amber right after resetting and powering it up is a dead unit,it should be going flickering orange if its looking for a controller

By software I mean the unfi localhost software which is running on my pc which I guess is known as the controller. I reset it via the little reset button on the back, held it in for more than five seconds to factory reset.

Right, thanks. Could be the reason why I am not picking it up.

Well speak of the devil.Having the exact same issue. Also happened on the 28-01-2018.

Is it a new deployment or it just stopped working?
If a new installation, then what is a PoE power source?

If unit just stoped working and is out of warranty, I would investigate and meassure a voltage on the unit. Connect it using a different, possibly a short cable. This unit is powered 24V, means high current and voltage drop. One broken pair may still power it on, but if voltage is to low, it will not startup correctly.

So this unit wasn't in use for quite some time, it just sat on the wall, green lights flashing but no one ever connected to it, I also couldn't pick it up on the network at all. This is probably because they put in a new router and it wasn't configured on the new router.

I brought it home to test on my network, I hard reset it, when it comes on it has a solid orange light, this means it is waiting to be configured. But for the life of me I can't pick it up in the unifi software nor can I see it in my router config. I have turned off my windows firewall, still nada. I dunno.

Possibly a lightning strike.

My LR AP got toasted, ended up in a state where I could connect to its wifi, but not get an IP address. Turned out that the PoE was fine, but the Ethernet transceiver was not, so the AP could not DHCP, or pass any packets. After putting a serial console on it, and verifying that the Ethernet was toast, I ended up chucking it away.

This *may* be of use: https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Wireless/HOWTO-Unbrick-your-UniFi-AP/td-p/338684

If u google it , if its a solid orange light then most likely its finished.Throw away.

I have an standard Unifi AP - also solid orange light after hard reset. Before the reset the light was green but no WiFi signal. also stopped working late January. Interesting coincidence or just bad luck?

Edit - This unit was replaced 14 months ago - are these units so sensitive? No other damage if it was lightning, very strange.

I googled it, and found this: https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/arti...D-Color-Patterns-Represent-for-UniFi-Devices-

Says it is "waiting for adoption". Doesn't sound like a good reason to toss it, to me!

Wireshark the network interface, see if you can see anything out of the ordinary (i.e. non-IP traffic, or traffic from/to broadcast addresses, etc.) You could also consider filtering on the Ubiquiti MAC addresses to try and isolate the AP if it is sending anything out.

Yip, it sounds a good opportunity to start a new business. :)

I need one AP for myself. I came with this idea before, so please if you are going toss it away, PM sajunky.

See,there's an extra distinction

If its solid amber DIRECTLY after a reboot, not cycling through the various flickerings except the green startup - it's a brick

The device isn't able to get an IP and it's not resetting itself to the default IP. Can't speak to it can't configure it

So it's a fancy orange light

Had enough DOA or DOReset to know
