Hi,

Came across an idea of moving my Unifi Controller to the Google Cloud "Always Free" tier... lots of articles on doing it. Seems to make sense in my world then i dont need to have my server running - thinking of switching her off since netflix + showmax + youtube answers 95% of my families viewing needs.

Anyone done the migration? Any bad things to watch out for with it being cloud based?

We run a cloud controller (albeit locally).. no issues at all. Remember to enable SSL and install letsencrypt to manage your certificates. Just reset your APs, ssh into them and run the set-inform script, twice, to adopt your APs. Do away with a cloudkey and easily manage your APs. You can even connect to your cloud server using the unifi app.
