Just seems like there are more important issues to sort out. It'd be one thing if it was called something inflammatory like Verwoerd House.

I dunno about Aristotle but watching Star Trek (The Original Series) in my youth taught me some valuable moral lessons.

The episode "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" left a powerful impression on back me on the utter futily of and the self destruction that racism causes.

Bear in mind this is the Youth League we are talking about ... if I were them I would be more worried about the payoffs made to them by the late and very dead Kebble.
 
Only in SA... seems most people are more interested in name changes (the more frequent the better) than building the economy and starting compete in world.

I seriously think there should be a forum set up with a fixed deadline for all name changes. Get done once and for all. It has been 12 years now start focusing on the important issues.

To be fair to YL, their president was addressing supporters in presence of JZ. So he has limited options

1. Ululate on anti-corruption measures implemented by jz
2. Shower accolades on JZ about his contributions to moral fabric of SA
3. Make outrageous & irresponsible statements so as to keep in media limelight

Guess what would they choose.

Why change the name at all? It's part of history. If you change the name, people won't ask why it's called the "Union Buildings", and thus would not know it was because of the joining of the republics and colonies. Rewriting / Erasing of history seems to be a priority with this government.

Now your'e talking : we could have T shirts, Sponsors Logo's on cars etc, perhaps even the National Flag could carry a discrete logo. The presendential jet could also carry the logo. President of SA (Sponsored by ???) attends G7 meeting in his sponsored T Shirt and sponsored jet. Pictured Leaving ??? Buildings in Tswane. Well the Tax Payers sponsor him at present but do not get required return, perhaps a Private Enterprise will get better coverage!

The renaming committee have jobs. They would like to keep their jobs. They will keep renaming things until they run out, and then it's Tambo's turn to get renamed to whoever becomes the next hero... Zuma, quite likely :D .

Ever heard of a "sunset clause"? We need that on every piece of state publication, by default. Ain't gonna happen though.

No, the blacks didn't have civil rights.

Did the Brits and Boere make a contribution to this land?

Must everything that they contributed be discarded for one reason that the blacks had no civil rights?

I have asked so often. What have the blacks contributed except hordes and hordes of blacks?

All of a sudden "democracy" is the word that is on every black's lips.

Never, in all history, untill the sixties in Botswana, was there ever a democracy in Africa. The whiteman brought it here. And because democracy and the wealth of the whiteman suits the blacks they love it.

What civil rights did a warrior of Shaka have? How much do the citizens of Darfur care about civil rights? Sometimes a plate of food is more worth than all the rights in the world. Other times when your belly is full it is easier to strike and demand civil rights.

Tibby, where in Africa are blacks better off than in this country. Have you blacks managed it all on your own? Now then, why do you wan't to pretend that the whites were never here? Pretend they didn't built a possitive legasy.

Why, indeed to you even want to raise the issue?
