Agreed. Now, if we can find another word for the S, I'd be all ears.
I suppose we cant use Supreme? Like Supreme overlord! jk!
Perhaps the S can stand for South Africa?

I think that is a good enough reason to start a union.
And just imagine how the world would suffer without us. Pandemonium would ensure as people panicked around the globe. Unable to figure out why their PC's wont switch on or why they can't access the internet. One by one, every data center across the globe would collapse, data loss would be irreversible. Email and web service would be effected globally, companies will no longer know how to communicate with their clients, employees will no longer know how to get their work done able to work. We are like bees, you may never seen us but we are always hard at work and the world simply cannot survive without us:twisted:
I would join an IT union if anyone starts one.
I suggest you Google 'Outsourcing' and 'Cloud Solutions'.
Yes not only the world, but even your employer can happily survive without you ...
How so... will that not in fact push them further into that practice?
Its funny, I just not sure I wanna have the name associated with solidarity. Not stealing their thunder or anything. I just know they are very close to Afriforum and are often politically motivated. However, for an acronym that cool, I might change my mind![]()
I have to agree there. I've often been tempted to join Solidarity, but I want a union that can back me, not their political agendas.
same with me, still cant understand why its never been done before, there certainly are enough of us to get the ball rolling
miners are highly skilled and many of them work in offces and drink coffee all day,
truck drivers, pilots, doctors, street cleaners all have unions that protect them, why does IT not have one single union that understands our highly specialized work one little bit.
and many of those professions are very highly skilled and technical.
I think its a deliberate conspiracy why the teamsters dont exist in SA
or its simply that not "enough" of the right people are interested in helping us.
This.
And I agree.
They don't appreciate their current IT people until it is too late, and think they can pay them a little less than what they really are worth.
I suggest you Google 'Outsourcing' and 'Cloud Solutions'.

Only until there is a fault that is not in the manual. Those kids can only fake it that far.
That same mindset is why outfits like Gijima AST has retrenched senior IT staff, only to hire them back at contractor fee's a few months later.
Heck - I had the same conversation with a manager in my exit interview - he said the same thing. 6 months later his boss actually phoned me to ask if I could come assist my replacements. They were having issues. My old manager avoided me like the plague for the 2 weeks I was there.
