Hoesit All,
Any idea on the best universal remote to buy...

.HDPVR - dstv remote is replaced every few months
.TV - clashes with blueray player
.Blueray player - clashes with TV
.Pioneer Amp - big and bulky

Anyone using the logitec harmony range ?
TIA,
A

Got one at Kitchen Shop in Brightwater. R25. Indestructible. Or at least, when it is destroyed, at R25, who cares?

Just purchased the Harmony One ... still cant decide if I like it. Its a bit of a mission to program, and does not work as fast as the normal remotes if for example you change the DSTV channels up as it lags a few milli-seconds between button presses.

I see you can apparently adjust that (you can increase/decrease the delays). I just got mine this week too and I have to say the biggest pain so far is the slow process of configuring it (why they decided to use this web interface...if I just had the ability to use the remote standalone with the learning facility then I'd have gladly re-programmed each of my other 5 remotes manually). I think the biggest pain with it is that you use their pre-defined database - I'm going to have to take a weekend to just manually program it with their dog-slow web interface...but after that hopefully I'll only have to use it again when I get a new device.

Which `one` is that ?
I am looking at the Harmony 900 or the one below it... Last thing i want to do is eff around setting it up.

Yes please take the Harmony One off my hands. :) :D

Can't say I found the web config slow when I programmed my remote. It's not fast like browsing sites on 10Mbit ADSL, that's for sure. But after 10 - 15 minutes I had 4 devices added which I would never have to add again. 10 - 15 mins once off is nothing.

Why are you selling it?

Just never got around to making use of it. Happy with the standard remotes and can use the cash elsewhere. Literally has been in my hand for 10 minutes. Absolutely nothing wrong with the remote.

Interested?

Also interested in 'one' of these...Since I bought my surround sound, I now have 3 remotes :eek:

Although not really that necessary, using one remote only would be nice :D

Hoesit All,
Well, i decided against the harmony 900, its costly and there is a chance one of the kids will throw it out the window on the dog's side of the house.

I bought a One For All
Price = R349
Where=Mica Lifestyle
Ease of use = effing simple, took 3 minutes to setup all devices
Problem= I took one in a cr@p condition from handling,droping even thou the packaging is quite robust, silly me!

Anyway, tjeers
