Unknown debits off account

Anybody have any idea how to track down unknown debits? We're seeing some strange, unknown debits coming off a business account. Is there any way to find out which companies they're going to?

Ask your bank.

Also reverse and block the transactions while you are there.

That's the thing, they're quite cryptic / uninformative. Stuff like - "direct shelf", or epayfin

not a chance. These would've been legit business expenses at some point.

If they are the same amount every month with the same description they can block the debit order.

You can claim the money back - but its a bit of a process.

With ABSA you queue for a godawfully long time, then pay them 30 bucks and they reverse it. Nothing else to it.

If you're with fnb and they are debit orders - simply fill in a debit order dispute form, send it through - poof it's gone!

So what I understand - if it's an eft that you've made in error - the bank has to contact the account holder (the one who got the money mistakenly) and request they pay it back - if they don't agree to, the bank says "tough luck" ... You could always try approach the police to lay a charge of theft, but doubt they will care - best bet is to approach a lawyer (provided the amount is high) or even try do it through small claims court
